The music school told him his hands were made for the cello, and he took it up at eight. Still in high school, he founded the Elsner String Quartet, which won the Saunderson Award at the Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition and the Young Concert Artists Auditions in Leipzig. After the Warsaw Conservatory, the quartet went to the Manhattan School of Music on full scholarships.

He has played Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and London's Wigmore Hall. For ten seasons he has played in Oregon Shakespeare Festival productions, from Much Ado About Nothing to Mary Zimmerman's The White Snake, which went on to tour the U.S.

and China. He is principal cellist of the Rogue Valley Symphony and teaches cello at Southern Oregon University. His Michal Palzewicz Trio sets cello and violin against banjo, guitar and steel pan.
