Her grandmother grew flax and hemp, spun and wove, and after World War II that craft fed the family. Tetyana grew up in Soviet Ukraine with little access to the tradition and first sat at a loom in 2013, in classes at the Multnomah Arts Center, reconstructing patterns from ethnographic sources. She weaves rushnyks and kylyms, tries contemporary forms and color, and teaches at Portland's Ukrainian festivals.
In 2024 she was named a master artist in Oregon's Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program.
