The brothers were born in Israel and moved to London with their family in 2002. The trio has played since 2012 and is named for Adolf Busch: van Bellen plays Busch's own 1783 Guadagnini. They use gut strings, after the great players of the early 20th century.
For Alpha Classics they have recorded Dvořák's complete music for piano and strings on four discs, all of Schubert's trios and the Trout, and Ravel and Shostakovich; the complete Beethoven trios are under way. In 2016 they won the Kersjes Prize, the Netherlands' top award for musicians. The Süddeutsche Zeitung calls them the leading piano trio of their generation.
In Portland they play two evenings: Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and Dvořák.
