Triumph of the Spirit

The program holds two works known to anyone raised on classical music: Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto and the suite from Stravinsky’s The Firebird. Orchestra Nova Northwest performs them with young winners of the Cognizart debut program, among them pianist Nikita Istratov. Familiar scores in the hands of a new generation are a good reason to hear them afresh.
