In 1996 the French artist Sophie Calle and Greg Shephard got into his Cadillac convertible, took video cameras and drove west across America. They filmed the road and themselves, so the film became two people watching each other. It is Calle’s first video work and a good place to start getting to know the artist. After the film, Nationale, an art space and bookstore, will host a conversation about her work.
