Chuck Israels is the bassist of the Bill Evans Trio from the era of Trio ’65 and Time Remembered; he recorded with John Coltrane and Stan Getz and accompanied Billie Holiday. He is also an arranger, having written for Evans, for Wynton Marsalis’s Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and for European radio big bands. Now he has his own orchestra in Portland, and at Jack London Revue he stands in front of it himself. An evening for those who want to hear jazz history live, not secondhand.
