Choreographer Lai Hung-chung created Birdy as an exploration of freedom and constraint. In this work, eight dancers use four-foot “Ling Zi” feathers and rattan poles, turning them into stage structures. The production combines acrobatics with traditional Chinese arts. The company brings the piece to Portland as part of its North American tour.
