“I don't directly reference my Ukrainian roots in a visual way, but the tone and emotional charge in my work carry the atmosphere I grew up with.”
He came to painting through music, after he started writing instrumental tracks in his early twenties. He works with building materials, cement and mineral dust, mortar slurry, sand and pigment, spreading them by hand across raw cotton, letting them cure and then partly removing them. What remains is a trace, not a picture.
His first solo show, HIDDI, opened at One Grand Gallery in Portland in 2025, and the gallery took his work to the Seattle Art Fair the same year. He has shown with Tappan Collective in Los Angeles and Dallas, at Littman Gallery and the Central Library in Portland, and at Hake House in Sydney. His work is sold through Tappan Collective and Escat Gallery in Barcelona.
