The listing says: Emanuel Ax plays Beethoven's Fourth with the Oregon Symphony. It doesn't say that Ax was born in Lviv in 1949 to parents who survived the Nazi camps, studied at the music school on Miodowa Street in Warsaw, and at twelve landed in New York and at Juilliard. Musical America named him Artist of the Year 2026. Not just a laureate's recital: an evening that began in Lviv.
