Tank and the Bangas

Tank and the Bangas are a band from New Orleans, and words matter to them as much as music. In 2025 they won the Grammy for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album for “The Heart, The Mind, The Soul.” Eight years earlier they won the NPR Tiny Desk Contest, a competition for the chance to play a small concert right at a desk in NPR’s offices. A show for those who listen to songs for the lyrics.
