“We are not going to replace Viktor Tsoi with anything or anyone. There is the voice, the songs, the music. That is more than enough.”
Upcoming events
Viktor Tsoi led the band and wrote its songs; after his death in 1990 Kino fell silent for decades. In 2012 the musicians first came back together in the studio, recording Ataman over Tsoi's surviving vocal. In May 2021 Kino returned to the big stage with three nights at Moscow's CSKA Arena.
Guitarist Yuri Kasparyan and bassists Igor Tikhomirov and Alexander Titov play live; Tsoi's voice is digitized from the original recordings. There are no holograms and no stand-in singers: the screen carries archive footage, videos and Tsoi's own drawings. On November 18, 2026, Kino plays Seattle for the first time, at Showbox SoDo.
