This is not the classic Nutcracker but a short, playful adaptation for young children: Dominic Walsh, director of OBT2, has created new choreography to Tchaikovsky’s music, and a clear narrator guides the story. Sound and lighting are softened for this performance and the atmosphere is calm, so it also suits children who find a noisy hall hard. Oregon Ballet Theatre’s second company dances, and it is a world premiere. A good first Nutcracker in a child’s life.
