Maido Mind combines the sound of traditional Japanese instruments with the piano: the piercing bamboo shinobue flute, the percussive, rapid-fire tsugaru shamisen and piano harmonies. At Portland Japanese Garden this music is heard in its own setting. The tsugaru shamisen is rarely heard live rather than on a recording.
